USIU partners with Safaricom to offer Students 10GB for E-Learning
Since the Presidentordered all learning institutions in Kenya to be closed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic,students have become unoccupied as they stay at home to avert the spread of thevirus.
Consequently, scholarshave been forced to wait for governments and health workers to bring thepandemic into control for schools to open and learning to resume.
However, USIU – Kenya,(United States International University) is taking no chance in providingquality and timely education for its scholars.
During the two weekspreceding the president’s announcement, the institution has indulged itsstudents in online learning through its advanced online platform, Blackboardfor instructional purposes and Zoom as their video conferencing tool.
The innovativecombination lets interaction between lectures and students and access tolearning recourses seamless, thus providing a great learning experience withoutthe need for brick and mortar lecture rooms.
Students use theirlaptops and internet to access the portal and go on with their studies fromtheir safety homes.
On top of that, the Vice-Chancellor,Prof. Paul Tiyambe Zeleza communicated that Safaricom has extended an arm tothe university’s efforts by providing subsidized or cheap mobile data bundle referred to as ‘Remotelearning Mobile Data Bundle Subsidy’
Through this partnership, USIU-Kenya students 10GB data bundle at asubsidized cost of Ksh. 500 for 30 days which is almost a fourth of the normalcost of Ksh 1800.
To enjoy this offer, however, the students need to register throughthis GOOGLE FORM by Midnight 31stTuesday, March 2020. Those who opt-in will be informed on how to access theservice within a fortnight after tests have been carried out.
As the Coronovirus pandemic continues to disrupt all entities and human activities around the world, academic institutions especially universities are realizing the importance of incorporating online courses to ensure their students don’t miss a bit.
